Belorusneft’s Malanka network to expand to 600 EV charging stations in 2021

The state-run company Belorusneft (Rechitsa, Gomel Oblast) is going to extend its network of Malanka charging stations for electric vehicles by 150 stations up to 600 in 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> New EV charging stations will be built in Minsk, on major roads, and in all the regions of Belarus. About 80 new fast changing stations will be set on the regional level. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft experts predict that by January 1, 2021 the number of electric cars in Belarus will amount to about 2 thousand. </p> <p> </p> <p> A plan to replace the bus fleet with electric buses is currently under discussion. Once approved, Malanka will also develop a charging network for public electric transport. These will be charging stations with a capacity of up to 350 kW, with additional equipment for charging electric buses. </p> <p> </p> <p> Also Malanka, together with the UNDP and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, has developed a project concept for the promotion of electric cars in Belarus. The project plans to install the first two superfast stations with a capacity of up to 350 kW. </p> <p> </p> <p> Malanka also plans to equip the charging stations with Wi-Fi access points in 2021, and the process of purchasing services and equipment has already begun. “This will make charging possible for those drivers who do not have a Belarusian SIM card. The Wi-Fi access point at the stations will only be available for downloading and using the Malanka app,” notes Belorusneft. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft’s first charging station has been operating since 2014. The company plans to open 640 stations by 2022. The total cost of the network is estimated at 150 million euros. Investments are being negotiated with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. Currently, charging terminals 120 kW in capacity are being installed on highways at gas stations.
