Belarusian oil refineries increase oil refining in by 50% in Q1 2021 to 4.2m tons

Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery, Gomel Oblast; Naftan, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) increased oil processing by 1.5 times year on year in January-March 2021 up to 4.2 million tons, said Belneftekhim chairman Andrei Rybakov. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The country’s refineries processed 1.5 times more oil (in January-March 2021 - ed.) than during the same period in 2020 - 4.2 million tons. They also produced one and a half times as much oil products - 3.6 million tons,” Rybakov told the Belneftekhim Bulletin magazine. </p> <p> </p> <p> He also informed that in January-March 2021 export of Belarusian oil products amounted to $1 billion, while the total export of Belneftekhim companies amounted to $1.7 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Rybakov, in January-March 2021 Belneftekhim enterprises operated in conditions of stable oil supply from Russia and the growth of quotation indices for the produced goods. Now, however, the industry is aimed at "overcoming the negative impact of new risks,” said Rybakov. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the U.S. Department of the Treasury on 19 Apr 2021 decided that starting 3 June 2021 the United States will re-impose full blocking sanctions against nine Belarusian state-owned enterprises previously granted relief under a series of General Licenses by the Treasury Department (Belneftekhim Concern and its U.S. representative office, as well as Belneftekhim-controlled Belshina, Grodno Azot, Grodno Khimvolokno, Lakokraska, Naftan, Polotsk-Steklovolokno, and Belarusian Oil Trading House).
