Belarus, Venezuela sign agreement to establish direct air links
<p> MINSK, Dec 20 - PrimePress. Belarus and Venezuela have signed an agreement on establishing air links between the countries. This was announced by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at a meeting of the Venezuelan-Belarusian commission on 17 December, TASS news agency reported citing the Venezolana de Televisión channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> During the commission meeting, “documents on cooperation in the fields of food production, trade, petrochemistry and the rehabilitation of a truck and agricultural machinery plant” were also signed. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, following the Ryanair incident in May 2021, the European Union banned the use of the Union’s airspace and airports by Belarusian air carriers. In May, Ukraine also terminated air links with Belarus and closed its airspace to Belarusian planes. Currently, the Belarusian national air carrier, Belavia, operates regular flights to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, UAE, and charter flights to Turkey, Egypt and Jordan.
