Belarus to establish first state corporation of 5 agricultural machinery makers –Industry Ministry

Belarus plans to establish the first pilot state corporation, which will unite 5 agricultural machinery production groups: Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ Group), Gomselmash, Bobruiskagromash Holding Management Company (Mogilev Oblast), Lidselmash Holding Management Company (Grodno Oblast) and Minsk Motor Plant Holding Management Company. Deputy Industry Minister Alexander Ogorodnikov made an announcement to this effect during a visit to Gomselmash on March 10. </p> <p> </p> <p> "As a pilot project we planned to create a state corporation in the agricultural machinery industry. A framework document is being drawn up now. It is planned to unite all the potential, including industrial, technological, and personnel, of the five holding companies. Those are Minsk Tractor Plant, Gomselmash, Bobruiskagromash, Lidselmash and Minsk Motor Plant. Roughly, this is the short list of participants. It is hard to say anything specific right now because it is a pilot project. We have just begun to deal with it," BelTA reports citing Ogorodnikov as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> Member of the state corporation will benefit from centralizing imports of raw materials, but at the same time they will retain legal independence and well-established marketing algorithms. “There is a simple approach here: earning a name and credibility for a new brand always takes time and costs. And Gomselmash products are well known, so the promotion of the state corporation will be built as promotion of brands,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, according to the action plan of the Belarusian government for the period to 2025, seven state corporations will be established in the first quarter of 2021: in agricultural machine building, manufacture of vehicles and light industry (one each), and in food and wood processing industries (two each).
