Belarus timber export up 63.5% to $1.557bn in Jan-Aug 2021
<p> MINSK, Oct 15 – PrimePress. Belarus increased export of timber, timber products and charcoal in January-August 2021 by 63.5% year on year to over $1.557 billion, as reported by the National Statistical Committee (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> This includes exports of long-sawn timber, which rose by 70.4% to $560.799 million in January-August 2021, while in volume terms, exports of these products fell by 10.8% to 2.512 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The main volume of these products was supplied to the European Union (EU) - 2.079 million cubic metres (minus 9.3% yoy) worth $483.299 million (+77.6%). Of which, Belarus delivered 611.8 thousand cubic metres to Latvia (+40.4%) worth $155.352 million (2.9 times more), 492.8 thousand cubic metres to Lithuania (minus 29.6%) worth $115.366 million (+39.3%), 330.9 thousand cubic metres to Germany (minus 4%) worth $69.458 million (+88.4%). Deliveries to China were 326.5 thousand cubic metres (+10.6%) at $54.756 million (+72.6%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-August 2021, exports of processed pine timber increased by 70.8% to $416.796 million, in volume terms, exports of these products decreased by 11.4% to 1.859 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The EU member states received 1.504 million cubic metres of these products (minus 10.5% yoy) for $352.93 million (+76.8%). Of which, Belarus delivered 484.9 thousand cubic metres to Latvia (+40.1%) worth 123.26 million dollars (2.9 times more), 385.9 thousand cubic metres to Lithuania (minus 29.7%) worth $90.992 million (+40.3%), 194.6 thousand cubic metres to Germany (minus 8.2%) worth $40.564 million (+77.5%). Deliveries to China were 262.8 thousand cubic metres (+9.5%) worth $44.344 million (+73.2%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-August 2021, exports of fuelwood fell by 1.4% to $99.89 million, and in physical terms exports of this product fell by 10.4% to 2.188 million cubic metres.
