Belarus’ timber export up 62.3% to $1.089bn in H1 2021

Belarus increased export of timber, timber products and fuel coal by 62.3% year on year up to $1.089 billion in January-June 2021, PrimePress has learnt from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of longitudinally sawn timber increased by 57.2% to $381.787 million in January-June 2021, in volume terms - down 10% to 1.904 million cubic meters. The main volume of these products was supplied to the European Union (EU) - 1.589 million cubic meters (minus 9.3% yoy) worth $326.196 million (+61.8%). Belarus delivered 461 thousand cubic meters of sawn timber to Latvia (+49.4%) worth $104.566 million (2.9 times more); 397.1 thousand cubic meters to Lithuania (minus 26.1%) at $86.046 million (+37.8%); 242.7 thousand cubic meters to Germany (minus 9.9%) at $44.042 million (+55.3%). Deliveries to China were 258.8 thousand cubic meters (+20.6%), worth $41.689 million (+82.5%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of trimmed pine timber increased by 77.5% yoy in January-June 2021 to $288.106 million; in volume terms, it decreased by 10.3% to 1.422 million cubic meters. The main volume of these products was also supplied to the EU countries - 1.152 million cubic meters (minus 9.7%) for $243.268 million (+64%). Belarus delivered 368.9 thousand cubic meters of processed pine timber to Latvia (+51.1%) worth $84.002 million (2.9 times more); 315 thousand cubic meters to Lithuania (minus 25.9%) worth $69.222 million (+40.5%); 146.3 thousand cubic meters to Germany (minus 12.8%) worth $26.782 million (+50.2%). Deliveries to China were 205.1 thousand cubic meters (+14.3%), worth $33.221 million (+76.2%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of fuelwood from Belarus increased by 0.9% year on year in January-June 2021 to $74.699 million, in volume terms - down by 3.3% to 1.742 million cubic meters. Almost all of this volume was supplied to the EU - about 1.739 million tons (minus 5.4%) worth $73.995 million (+0.2%). Among them, Latvia received 333.5 thousand tons of fuelwood (minus 18.4%), worth $12.648 million (minus 10.2%); Lithuania - 437.8 thousand tons (+20.3%), worth $19.164 million (+6.3%); Poland - 680,500 tonnes (minus 7.1%), worth $17.937 million (minus 1.3%); Denmark - 138,900 tonnes (+32.9%), worth $11.472 million (+8.2%).
