Belarus’ sugar export up 43.8% in Jan 2021 to 9,738 tonnes

Belarus increased sugar export by 43.8% year on year in Jan 2021 to 9,738 tonnes, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> In monetary terms, the export decreased by 1.9% yoy in Jan 2021 to $4.908 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus supplied 9,603 tonnes of sugar to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (down 43.4% y/y) worth $4.841 million (down 0.9%). Russia accounted for 7,660 tonnes (up 1.2%) worth $3.833 million (up 69.1%), Tajikistan – 1,017 tonnes (no supplies in Jan 2020) worth $559,400. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus exported sugar in 2020 at an average price of $341.037 per tonne, down 13.7% y/y. The price for the CIS averaged $343.448 per tonne (down 13.2%), countries outside the CIS – $324 per tonne (down 3%). End </p>
