Belarus, Russia’s telecom operators cut roaming tariff rate 20-fold to $0.015 Nov 1, 2020
<p> MINSK, Nov 2 - PrimePress. Telecommunications operators of Belarus and Russia switched to a new roaming tariff on November 1, 2020 on a trial basis: the rate of international interconnect for roaming calls decreased from 30 U.S. cents to 1.5 cents per minute, as decided by the high-level group of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State on October 21. </p> <p> </p> <p> The trial period will last two months, after which the roaming tariffs will be applied permanently. </p> <p> </p> <p> Mobile TeleSystems LLC (MTS) announced earlier that the transition to new voice roaming tariffs would enter into force automatically from November 1, 2020. The price of incoming calls for MTS subscribers that stay in Russia is set at Br0.11 ($0.04 at the rate of the National Bank Belarus) per minute. The price of outgoing calls to Belarus will stand at Br0.22 ($0.08) per minute; outgoing calls within the host country – Br0.55 Belarusian rubles ($0.20) per minute. Prices of text messages and Internet traffic will remain unchanged. Since November 1, 2020, MTS subscribers in Russia have access to the 1 GB Abroad service, which includes 1 GB of Internet traffic for 7 days. The price is set at Br15 ($5.69). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian A1 provider of telecom, ICT and content services reduced on November 1, 2020 the tariff for outgoing calls to Belarus from Russia for its subscribers to Br0.26 ($0.09); for calls within the country – Br0.8 ($0.30) per min; incoming calls – Br0.11 ($0.04); outgoing text message – Br0.06 ($0.02). A1 also offers a 1 GB data roaming package for Br5.9 ($2.23) per month. Such roaming package in the networks of Russian mobile operators (MTS, Beeline, Megafon and Tele2) is available to A1 customers that have subscribed to the Comfort S, Comfort M, Comfort L, Comfort XL and Unlimited packages and to the Business Plan line subscribers. The price of 1 MB of traffic in excess of the package is Br0.01 ($0.004) billed per 1 Kbyte. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian life:) operator also announced a reduction in the price of services for calls in Russia from November 1: outgoing call to Belarus – to Br0.27 ($0.10) per minute; outgoing call within the host country – Br0.65 ($0.24) per minute; incoming call – Br0.11 ($0.04) per minute; outgoing text message – Br0.09 ($0.03). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the abolition of roaming in the Union State is a point on a roadmap approved in June 2017 by the Supreme State Council of the Union State and signed in December 2019 by the Telecom Ministries, and as part of the joint action plan to detect and suppress fraud in the telecommunication networks of Russia and Belarus.
