Belarus’ rolled steel output down 5.2% to 2.371m tonnes in 2020

Belarus decreased output of finished rolled products by 5.2% year on year in 2020 to 2.371 million tonnes, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) informed PrimePress. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ steel production decreased by 5.8% in 2020 to 2.56 million tons; bars and hot-rolled steel bars - down 2.5% to 2.045 million tons, steel cord - decreased by 19.7% to 71.7 thousand tons, profiled (ribbed) sheets of unalloyed steel - increased by 14.5% to 25.144 thousand tons, said Belstat. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total volume of metallurgical production and manufacture of finished metal products in the Belarusian enterprises (6.5% of total industrial production) decreased by 9.1% to Br7.52 billion ($2.9 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus) in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of January 1, 2021, inventories of finished goods at industrial enterprises amounted to Br142.2 million ($54.2 million, $1/Br2.6228), or 32.9% of the average monthly output. Inventories increased by 1.7 p.p. year on year, down 5.4 p.p. month on month. End </p> <p> </p>
