Belarus reports 16.8% increase in tax arrears in 2020 to Br128.7m

Belarus reports a 16.8% increase in business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget in January-December 2020 to Br128.7 million ($49.58 at the rate of the National Bank Belarus) as of Jan 1, 2021, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of current payments amounted to Br75.7 million as of Jan 1, 2021 ($29.16 million), up 3.3% in Jan-Dec 2020; arrears on inspections – Br43.6 million ($16.8 million), up 59.7%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of VAT accounted for 51.6% of the total, standing at Br66.4 million ($25.58 million) as of Jan 1, 2021, up 47.2% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of land-related payments amounted to Br14.6 million ($5.62 million) as of Jan 1, 2021 (11.4% of the total), up 0.7% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Income tax arrears (8.2% of the total) decreased in Jan-Dec 2020 by 39.4% to Br10.6 million ($4.08 million) as of Jan 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Real estate tax arrears amounted to Br7.1 million ($2.9 million) as of Jan 1, 2021 up 14.5% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Excise tax arrears totalled Br2.1 million ($808.9 million, 1.6% of the total debt), down 46.2% since Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Deferred arrears amounted to Br166.9 million ($64.3 million) as of Jan 1, 2021, up 64%. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in 2019, Belarusian business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget decreased by 34% to Br110.2 million ($42.5 million) as of January 1, 2020.
