Belarus raises cap on 2021 directed lending to state programmes by 29.6% to Br551m

Belarus has raised the ceiling on directed lending in support of state programs and activities in 2021 by 29.6% to Br551 million ($213.037 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus). This is enshrined in government resolution No. 224 of 16 April 2021, published on the National Legal Internet Portal on 21 April. </p> <p> </p> <p> This includes loans to business entities in the framework of the decisions of the President and the Government of Belarus - up 46.1% to Br396.448 million ($153.281 million; $1/Br2.5864). The funds (the framework of the presidents decisions) are allocated to the Belarusian Wallpaper Company, Gorodeya Sugar Refinery, Zhabinka Sugar Refinery and Skidel Sugar Refinery. Within the framework of governmental decisions - MMPZ-Group Ltd. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lending to individuals within the framework of the decisions of the president of Belarus was increased by 3.8% to Br32.608 million ($12.607 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus lowered the ceiling on directed lending in support of state programs and activities in 2021 by 42.6% to Br425 million ($164.84 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus) against the initially planned amount for 2020. This was enshrined in government resolution No. 78 of 9 February 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the directed lending to state programs in Belarus increased by 220% in 2020 against the initial plan to Br2.4 billion ($927.93 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus). </p> <p> </p> <p> Following the president’s orders, directed lending to business entities increased in 2020 by 440% against the initial plan to Br1.809 billion ($701.63 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Directed lending to the state agricultural business development program for 2016-2020 increased by 63% in 2020 to Br496.878 million ($192.72 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusbank increased directed lending to state programs in 2020 by 213% to 1.78 billion Belarusian rubles ($690.38 million); Belagroprombank – by 140% to Br470.9 million ($182.64 million); Belarus Development Bank – by 50.1% to Br765.225 million ($296.8 million).
