Belarus plans to increase farm and food exports by 6% in 2020 to $5.8bn – Agriculture Ministry

Belarus plans to increase the export of agricultural products and foods in 2020 by 6% year on year to $5.8 billion, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Igor Brylo said on November 10, 2020 at the business forum ‘Strategic Outlook for the Food Industry of Belarus’ held as part of the PRODEXPO exhibition-fair. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We expect that farm output will grow by more than 5.5% this year. We strongly believe that the industry will ensure output at $10 billion, and exports will go up 6% against 2019 to $5.8 billion,” Brylo said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat), Belarus increased farm output by 4.9% year on year in January-September 2020 to Br16.713 billion ($6.485 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus) in current prices. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of agricultural products and foods increased by 6.1% year on year in January-September 2020 to $4.2 billion.
