Belarus plans to import 1.1m tonnes of oil from Russia in June 2020 – Belneftekhim

Belarus plans to import about 1.1 million tonnes of oil from the Russian Federation through pipeline and rail in June 2020, says Spokesman for Belneftekhim petrochemical concern Alexander Tishchenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The largest volumes will come from Rosneft, Lukoil, Bashneft and Tatneft, ten Russian companies in total. A little over 1 million tonnes of oil will be delivered through the pipeline and around 80,000 tonnes will be transported by rail,” Tishchenko says. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus expects the arrival of the first sea tanker with American oil to the port of Klaipeda in June. Belneftekhim declines to comment on other possible supplies from sources alternative to Russia in June. “Over the past five months, we received oil in 11 tankers. The American tanker will be the 12th. From January to May, every fifth tonne came from alternative sources,” Tishchenko says. </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-May 2020, Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Refinery OJSC, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) processed around 5.4 million tonnes of oil. </p> <p> </p> <p> As reported, in January-March 2020, the Belarusian refineries only utilized 50% of their capacities, having no long-term contracts with Russian leading supplies since late 2019. In this situation, Belarus has been actively diversifying supplies of oil, including through the ports of Klaipeda (Lithuania) and Odessa (Ukraine). End </p>
