Belarus’ oil products import down 47.3% in Jan-Apr 2021 to 31,943 tonnes

Belarus reduced oil products import by 47.3% year on year in Jan-Apr 2021 to 31,943 tonnes, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> In value terms, imports decreased by 21.1% year on year in Jan-Apr 2021 to $34.465 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> The decline in oil products imports is caused by the reduction of supplies of Russian oil products in Jan-Apr 2021 by 11.4% year on year, down to 16,212 tonnes worth $15.266 million (down 85.3% yoy). </p> <p> </p> <p> During this period, Belarus also bought oil products from Poland, Germany, Korea, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, and the UAE. </p> <p> </p> <p> The average price of oil products imported by Belarus in Jan-Apr 2021 was $1,079 per tonne (+ 49.6% yoy). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus reduced the import of oil products in January-December 2020 by 40.9% year on year to 146,300 tonnes. In monetary terms, the import of oil products in Jan-Dec 2020 was down 30.4% year on year to $116.859 million. The decrease was due to a reduction in supplies of Russian oil products in Jan-Dec 2020 by 23.5% compared with Jan-Dec 2019 to 59,517 tonnes worth $40.711 million (down 20.4%). </p> <p> The average price of oil products imported by Belarus in 2020 rose by 17.8% year on year to $798.947 per tonne. As previously reported, since November 2018, Russia has effectively imposed quotas on the supply of oil products and liquefied gas to Belarus in order to stop their re-export. End </p> <p> </p>
