Belarus’ number of mobile subscribers up 0.7% in 2020 to 11.724m – Telecom Ministry

Belarus’ Telecom Ministry says the total number of mobile subscribers increased by 0.7% year on year in 2020 to 11.627 million as of January 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Telecom Ministry’s report, 7.223 million Belarusian mobile subscribers used mobile data transmission services in 2020, up 5.9% year on year; 4.993 million mobile subscribers used LTE services (up 30.8%). Belarusian mobile operators (A1, MTS Belarus, life:)) increased their Internet bandwidth by 30.4% to 407.8 Mbps in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian mobile subscribers generated 8.48 billion minutes of voice traffic in 2020 (up 12.8% year on year); the share of home network voice traffic standing at 80.4%. The outgoing international traffic totaled 7.319 million minutes (down 14%), incoming international traffic – 11.72 million minutes (down 13.2%); roaming – 6.141 million minutes (down 26.7%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Mobile telecom services (GSM 2G) covered 98.7% of Belarus’ territory in 2020, UMTS (3G) – 98.4%, LTE (4G) – 31.1% (5% in the previous year). Mobile telecom services covered 99.9%, 99.9% and 89.5% of the population, respectively. </p> <p> </p> <p> Mobile telecom services in Belarus are provided by three operators – A1, MTS Belarus and life:), while infrastructural operator beCloud provides LTE services.
