Belarus’ MFA prioritizes relationship with China as strategic

Belarus is committed to develop strategic foreign policy relations with China and full-scale participation in the Belt and Road initiative, which will make the economies of the partner states more resistant to global challenges, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Alexander Guryanov said at the ‘Conjugation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union’ online forum held on October 27, 2020 on the initiative of the Eurasian Economic Commission. </p> <p> </p> <p> Guryanov said that the trade and economic cooperation agreement of the EEU (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia) and the PRC, which entered into force a year ago, facilitates intensive interaction. A joint commission has been appointed to implement the agreement with a view to step up mutual trade and joint economic projects. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Belt and Road is not only about cargo transportation and logistics infrastructure, but also building of high-tech industries and transnational production chains,” Guryanov said. He proposed to involve the Chinese-Belarusian Great Stone Industrial Park as a Eurasian center for production of new high-tech goods and services. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that the participation of the financial institutions of the EEU and the PRC, particularly the Eurasian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, in the co-financing of joint projects can significantly facilitate conjugation and complementarity of integration processes in Eurasia.
