Belarus’ insurance cos collect Br874.7m in premiums in Jan-Jun 2021, up 18.6%/yr

Belarusian insurance companies increased collection of direct and co-insurance premiums by 18.6% on the year in Jan-Jun 2021 to 874.7 million Belarusian rubles (Br) ($347.931 million at the NBB rate), the Belarusian Finance Ministry said in a release. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total value of mandatory insurance policies sold in Jan-Jun 2021 stands at Br288.9 million ($114.916m), up 9.01% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total value of voluntary insurance policies sold in Jan-Jun 2021 stands at Br585.7 million ($232.975 million), up 23.9% on the year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Voluntary insurance accounts for 67% of total revenues in Jan-Jun 2021 (64.1% in Jan-Jun 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> State-owned insurance companies Belgosstrakh and Beleximgarant together collected Br442.943 million ($176.19 million) in Jan-Jun 2021, which makes up 50.67% of the total amount of insurance premiums. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian insurers paid out Br511.5 million ($203.46 million) in compensations in Jan-Jun 2021, up 33.5% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The compensation to premium ratio reached 58.5% in Jan-Jun 2021, compared with 51.9% in Jan-Jun 2020. Belgosstrakh and Beleximgarant account for 47.1% of the total value of compensation payments. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of July 1, 2021, there were 16 insurers in Belarus. Voluntary insurance accounts for 67% of total revenues in Jan-Jun 2021 (64.1% in Jan-Jun 2020).
State-owned insurance companies Belgosstrakh and Beleximgarant together collected Br442.943 million ($176.19 million) in Jan-Jun 2021, which makes up 50.67% of the total amount of insurance premiums.
Belarusian insurers paid out Br511.5 million ($203.46 million) in compensations in Jan-Jun 2021, up 33.5% year on year.
