Belarus’ industrial output down 2.5% in Jan-Jul 2020 to Br62.643bn

Belarus’ industrial output decreased by 2.5% on the year in Jan-Jul 2020 to 62.643 billion Belarusian rubles (Br), or U.S. $25.482 billion at the official rate of the National Bank, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of coke and oil products reduced by 23.8% year on year in Jan-Jul 2020 to Br6.516 billion ($2.651bn). Output of chemical products decreased by 7.9% to Br5.179 billion ($2.107bn). Output of foods, beverages and tobacco goods grew by 4.6% year on year to Br17.310 billion ($7.041 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of metallurgical industries was down 3.4% to Br4.028 billion ($1.639 billion), production of vehicles and equipment grew by 2.2% to Br2.679 billion ($1.090 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of plastic and rubber goods, other non-metal mineral products reduced by 1.9% in Jan-Jul 2020 to Br4.450 billion ($1.810 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of electronic and optical equipment in Belarus decreased 0.1% yr on yr in Jan-Jul 2020 to Br0.941 billion ($382.8 million), electrical equipment – down 6.4% to Br1.596 billion ($649.2m). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of machines and equipment (which do not belong to other statistical categories) stood at Br4.035 billion ($1.641 billion) in Jan-Oct 2019, down 14.6% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of Aug 1, 2020, industrial inventories stood at Br5.303 billion ($2.157 billion), or 74% of average monthly industrial output (78.1% as of Jul 1, 2020, and 64% as of Aug 1, 2019). </p> <p> </p> <p> Industries’ return on sales stood at 9.2% in Jan-Jun 2020 to compare with 8.6% in Jan-Jun 2019.
