Belarus’ govt to adjust 2021 public investment programme – EconMin
<p> MINSK, Jan 21 - PrimePress. The government of Belarus will make adjustments to the state investment programme for 2021, in particular, by concentrating the main financial resources in healthcare, road and transport infrastructure, energy, and land reclamation. The decision was taken following a meeting between President Alexander Lukashenko and the government on January 21, Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov said. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We will once again look at the programme from the point of view of effectiveness and new projects. After that it will be forwarded for consideration to the head of state. Resources should be concentrated on the spheres of current interest: healthcare, transport infrastructure, power engineering, land melioration, and roads. It is into these vectors that the bulk of the funds will be channeled,” the BelTA state news agency reports citing Chervyakov as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> The initial draft of the 2021 State Investment Programme, which was considered at the meeting, provided for the construction of about 130 facilities worth more than Br600 million ($236.304 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus). Lukashenko demanded to save money as Belarus has no spare money. </p> <p> </p> <p> Chervyakov said it was decided to keep in the programme only those projects that would soon lead to the creation of new jobs and tax revenues to local budgets.
