Belarus govt plans to increase investments in development of 30 lame-duck regions by 75.7% to Br1.716bn in 2021-2025 - resolution

The government of Belarus plans to increase investments in the development of 30 underperforming regions by 75.7% to Br1.716 billion ($662.548 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus) in 2021-2025, in accordance with government resolution #119 of March 1, 2021, which entered into force on March 13, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the initial plan for developing Belarus’ 30 regions classified as socio-economically underdeveloped territories was approved by government resolution #689 of 9 October 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> In accordance with Resolution #119, in 2021-2025, the amount of funds from the national budget for the implementation of investment projects is planned to increase 9.3 times from the previously envisaged amount of funding to Br118.969 million ($45.934 million; $1 - Br2.5933), the funds from local budgets - to increase 21.5 times to 233.843 million Belarusian rubles ($90.287 million).
