Belarus govt forecasts zero GDP growth for 2020 - Snopkov
<p> MINSK, Aug 21 – PrimePress. The Belarusian government has released a forecast, which says that zero GDP growth is expected in 2020. First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov made a statement to this effect at a press-conference on August 21. </p> <p> </p> <p> “So far there are no special prerequisites for us not to reach the 2019 level of GDP growth,” said Snopkov. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ GDP decreased by 1.6% year on year in January-July 2020 to Br80 billion ($32.185 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus). </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2019, Belarus’ GDP grew by 1.2% year on year to Br131.952 billion ($53.087 billion), while the official forecast expected growth at 4%.
