Belarus’ electricity production grows 3.2 times in Jan-Feb to 7.5bn kWh

Electricity production in Belarus increased 3.2 times year on year in January-February 2021 to 7.5 billion kWh, according to Belstat data. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in early November 2020, a ceremonial launch of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP, Astravyets, Grodno Oblast) was officially held. BelNPP electricity generation was 1.5 billion kWh as of March 17, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2020, Belenergo enterprises reduced electricity production by 15.56% to 34.035 billion kWh. Electricity consumption in Belarus in 2020 increased by 0.31% year on year to 38.02 billion kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> In December 2020, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said that by the end of 2025, annual electricity consumption in the country was expected to increase by 1.15 times compared to the 2019 level to 44 billion kWh.
