Belarus Development Bank pours Br147.2m into 737 SME projects in H1 2021
<p> MINSK, Jul 26 - PrimePress. OAO Belarus Development Bank (BDB) in association with partner banks provided Br147.2 million ($58.561m) in support of 737 investment projects by Belarus’ small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Jan-Jun 2021, the bank said in a press-release. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total value of projects financed at the expense of credit resources of Development Bank stands at Br170.7 million ($67.91 million; $1/Br2.5136). The largest share in the SME portfolio in terms of the amount of credit and leasing contracts belongs to the projects related to passenger and freight transport - 33.1%, manufacturing - 28.9% and trade - 18.7%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Since 2014, when the bank launched its SME financing programme, Belarus Development Bank has provided support to 5,757 investment projects (loan agreements and lease deals) to the tune of Br959 million ($381.52m) as of 1 Jul 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total value of projects financed at the expense of the Development Bank was Br1.544 billion ($614.25 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The Development Bank relies on 11 partner banks to implement its SME support programme: Belgazprombank, Belinvestbank, Belarusbank, Belagroprombank, MTBank, BNB-Bank, Priorbank, Alfa-Bank, BTA Bank, Bank Dabrabyt, Paritetbank and leasing companies JSC "Promagroleasing", Raiffeisen-Leasing, ASB Leasing, Intellect Leasing, Agroleasing. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Development Bank was established on June 21, 2011 after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed ordinance #261 to create open joint-stock company Bank of Development of the Republic of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Development Bank is Belarus’ agent bank to service and repay state loans and external loans attracted against a government security and extended to finance projects included in state programs. </p> <p> </p> <p> The government holds a 96.224% stake in the Development Bank of Belarus.
