Belarus’ Development Bank includes protective gear and medical equipment manufacturers in SME support program

The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus OJSC included manufacturers of medical protective gears and medical equipment in the program of support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for the COVID-19 pandemic period, the bank’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Taking into account the epidemiological situation in Belarus, the Development Bank’s program of financial support for small and medium enterprises now also supports manufacturers of medical protective gears and medical equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. This provides for financial support for SMEs whose activities are related to production of medical protective gears (protective suits, masks, gloves, goggles, respirators, antiseptics, bathrobes, etc.), medical equipment and other activities aimed at fighting the coronavirus infection (COVID-19), reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Entrepreneurs are offered financing for the procurement of means of production or services, and financing for ongoing operations. Today’s interest rate is set at 0.5 the refinancing rate of the National Bank of Belarus (the current refinancing rate is 8.75% per annum) + 2.5 percentage points (currently 6.88% per annum). </p> <p> </p> <p> SMEs can apply to partner banks and leasing organizations that are parties to the financial support program. </p> <p> </p> <p> The fundamentally new program of financial support for small and medium enterprises was initiated by the Development Bank in August 2014. It involves partner commercial banks and leasing companies experienced in cooperation with small and medium businesses, 11 banks in total: Belgazprombank OJSC, Belinvestbank OJSC, ASB Belarusbank OJSC, Belagroprombank OJSC, MTBank OJSC, BNB-Bank OJSC, Priorbank OJSC, Alfa-Bank CJSC, BTA Bank CJSC, Bank Dabrabyt OJSC and Paritetbank OJSC, and Promagroleasing OJSC, Raiffeisen Leasing JLLC, ASB Leasing LLC and Agroleasing OJSC leasing companies. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus was established in 2011 by presidential decree No.261 of June 21, 2011 to increase the efficiency of projects included in government programs, reduce the time of their implementation and cost recovery. It finances government programs on its own behalf and at its own expense on terms of urgency, payment and repayment. The state holds 96.224% in the bank’s statutory capital. End </p>
