Belarus, China hold first round of talks on services trade, agreement and investment
<p> MINSK, Apr 8 - PrimePress. Belarus and China on 7 April 2021 held the first round of talks on an agreement on trade in services and investments, the Ministry of Economy of Belarus said in a press statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The meeting was attended by representatives of the ministries of economy of the two countries, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the State Committee for Development and Reforms of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The work carried out by the parties to build up trade and economic relations between Belarus and China made it possible to prevent reduction in the foreign trade turnover of goods and services, which exceeded $5 billion in 2020. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the trade turnover was at or above its peak in 2019, and the foreign trade turnover in services between the two countries increased by 16%. China is Belarus’ second trading partner (after Russia),” the report said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Ministry of Economy, the conclusion of the agreement is one of the most important directions of further development and strengthening of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and China. The ministry stresses that the sides aim at actively building up cooperation with a focus on investments, bridging the production potentials of the two countries, increasing and balancing bilateral trade.
