Belarus’ cargo transportation volume down 5.5% in Jan-Feb 2021 to 53.277m tonnes

Belarus’ volume of cargo transportation by all types of transport decreased in Jan-Feb 2021 by 5.5% year on year to 53.277 million tonnes, Belarus’ National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Transportation by rail in Jan-Feb 2021 totalled 18.412 million tonnes, up 1.7% year on year. The transit freight traffic amounted to 3.8 million tonnes, down 12%. Crude oil and oil products, construction cargoes, chemical and mineral fertilizers, and timber cargoes prevailed in transportation by rail. </p> <p> </p> <p> Transportation of goods by road decreased in Jan-Feb 2021 by 18.6% to 17.026 million tonnes; through pipelines – up 3.6% to 17.828 million tonnes; by air – up twofold to 7,000 tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> The export of transportation services in freight terms in Jan 2021 amounted to $259.8 million, up 8.3% year on year; import – $134 billion, up 23.3%.
