Belarus’ annual inflation speeds up to 10.2% in Sep 2021, core inflation at 9.9%

Annual inflation in Belarus accelerated to 10.2% in Sep 2021, while core inflation slowed down stood at 9.9%, reads the monthly inflation review released by the National Bank of Belarus (NBB). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, inflation in Belarus was 1.3% in Sep 2021, Jan-Sep – 7.5%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Consumer prices rose in Sep 2021 by 10.2% year on year (9.8% yoy in Aug 2021; 9.8% y/y in July 2021). </p> <p> </p> <p> Core inflation stood at 9.9% yoy in Sep 2021; 9.9% in Aug 2021; 10.2% yoy in July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The increase in administered prices and tariffs stood at 9.7% in Sep 2021; 9.7% yoy in Aug 2021; 9.5% yoy in July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Seasonal prices (fruit and vegetables) increased by 14.2% year on year in Sep 2021 to compare with 6.7% yoy in Aug 2021; 4.5% yoy in July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The year-on-year aggregate trend inflation rate was at 8.6% yoy in Sep 2021; 8.4% yoy in Aug 2021; 8.6% yoy in July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The maximum and minimum annual free price and tariff increases in Sep 2021 were, in particular, minus 0.8% for edible salt; minus 0.8% for single-room flat rents to individuals; minus 0.4% for wheat flour; +1.1% for footwear; +1.2% for coffee; +15.7% for vet services; +18.1% for chicken eggs; +19.6% for carpets and rugs; +20.7% for butter and fats; +26.7% for mayonnaise. </p> <p> </p> <p> The maximum and minimum annual growth rates of regulated prices and tariffs in Sep 2021 were, in particular, minus 3.6% for car insurance; +4.2% for communication services; +12.3% for tobacco products; +15.8% for administered transport services; +17.7% for fuel; +21.1% for pharmaceuticals.
